Winemaking in the Šuklje family can be traced back to 1895, when Matija Šuklje was granted a loan of 140 gold dinars to plant grafted vines following the phylloxera infestation. With each generation, planting increased, and there are 6.5 hectares of vineyards presently. Seven generations later, the estate is helmed by Jože and Tatjana Šuklje, their children Matija and Katja, and son-in-law, Guillaume Antalick.

We love the wines of Šuklje for their transparency. The decisions made in the vineyards and the winemaking process can be sensed in the wines themselves. These are wines that pay homage to the land, the vineyard practices, and each passing vintage.
